Prayer For Anointing Oil

In the name of the Father, the Son Jesus Christ, and by the power of the Holy Spirit, I set this oil apart to be the holy anointing oil.

This oil is the holy anointing oil with the power to cast out demons and to heal the sick according to the Word in Mark 6:13 and James 5:14.

This is the anointing oil which sets us apart unto God and makes us more than conquerors and overcomers.

This is the anointing oil which honours God and man, and brings glory to Jesus Christ.

This is the anointing oil which gives us gladness and empowers us for service unto God.

This is the anointing oil which speaks of the finished work of Christ and gives us protection from all evil.

This is the anointing oil which blesses us and gives us complete victory in Jesus Christ.

Heaven’s Grocery Store

As I was walking down life's highway many years ago, I came upon a sign that read ‘Heaven’s Grocery Store’. When I got a little closer the doors swung open wide and when I came to myself, I was standing inside.

I saw a host of angels and they were standing everywhere. One of them handed me a basket and said "My child, shop with care." Everything a human needed was in that grocery store, and what you could not carry, you could come back for more.

First I got some ‘Love’. ‘Patience’ was in the same row. Further down was ‘Understanding’, you need that everywhere you go. I got a box or two of ‘Faith’, ‘Wisdom’ a bag or two, and ‘Charity’ of course. I would need some of that too.

I could not miss the ‘Holy Ghost’, for it was all over the place. Then, I took some ‘Courage’ and ‘Strength’ to help me run this race. My basket was getting full but I remembered I needed ‘Grace’. I chose ‘Salvation’ for ‘Salvation’ was for free. I tried to get enough of that to do for you and me.

After that, I walked to the counter to pay my bill, for I thought I had everything to do the Master’s will. As I went up the aisle, I saw ‘Prayer’ and put that in, for I knew when I stepped outside I would run into sin. ‘Peace’ and’ Joy’ were plentiful, the last things on the shelf. ‘Praise’ was hanging near so I just helped myself.

At the counter, I asked the angel, "How much do I owe?" He smiled and said "Just take them everywhere you go." I asked again "How much do I owe?" "My child" he said, "God paid your bill a long time ago."

Grandma’s Duck

There was a little boy that went to visit his grandparents on their farm. He was given a slingshot to play with out in the woods. He practiced in the woods but he could never hit the target. Feeling a little discouraged, he headed back for dinner. As he was walking back he saw grandma's pet duck. Out of impulse, he let the slingshot fly, hit the duck in the head and killed it. He was shocked and grieved. In a panic, he hid the dead duck in a wood pile, only to see his sister watching.

After lunch the next day grandma said, “Mary, let us go and wash the dishes.” Mary said, “Grandma, John told me he wanted to help in the kitchen.” Then she whispered to him, “Remember the duck?” So John did the dishes. Later that day, grandpa asked if the children wanted to go fishing and grandma said, “I am sorry but I need Mary to help make supper.” Mary just smiled and said, “Well that is all right because John told me he wanted to help.” She whispered again, “Remember the duck?” So Mary went fishing while John stayed to help.

After several days of John doing both his chores and Mary's, he finally could not stand it any longer. He came to grandma and confessed that he had killed the duck. Grandma knelt down, gave him a hug and said, “Sweetheart, I know. You see, I was standing at the window and I saw the whole thing, but because I love you, I forgave you. I was just wondering how long you would let Mary make a slave of you.”

Whatever is in your past, whatever you have done, the devil keeps throwing it in your face (anger, bad habits, cheating, debt, fear, hatred) whatever it is. You need to know that God was standing at the window and He saw the whole thing.

He has seen your whole life. He wants you to know that He loves you and that you are forgiven. He is just wondering how long you will let the devil make a slave of you. The great thing about God is that when you ask for forgiveness, He not only forgives you, but He forgets. It is by God's grace and mercy that we are saved. When Jesus died on the cross, He was thinking of you.

Easy Versus Hard

Isn't it funny how simple it is for people to trash God and then wonder why is the world going to hell.

Isn't it funny how we can be more worried about what other people think of us than what God thinks of us?

Isn't it funny how people can say that they believe in God but still follow Satan (who also believes in God)?

Isn't it funny how we can send jokes through email and they spread like wildfire, but when we start sending messages regarding the Lord, we think twice about sharing?

Why is it so hard to tell the truth, but yet so easy to tell a lie?

Why is it so easy to delete a godly email, but yet we forward all the nasty ones?

Why are we so sleepy in church, but right when the sermon is over we suddenly wake up?

Singled Out

Singlehood.

For some people, it is a walk in the park. They relish the freedom of not being tied down by another person, and having the time and space to pursue personal passions, like picking up a new language, or going for enrichment lessons. They see it as an opportunity to explore who they really are and who they can be.

On the flip side of the coin, some singles feel like they got the short end of the stick. They find themselves constantly envying others, and feeling incomplete in a group of lovey-dovey, starry-eyed couples. Things get even worse when they see the class nerd going out with a hot babe or hunk. They find themselves constantly asking ‘What is wrong with me?’

All of us are designed for relationships with others. We need to give and receive affection and to connect with people. That is why being single can sometimes feel like we are missing out on something that the rest of the world is enjoying. We long for that level of authentic connection and intimacy with a significant other, to be known and appreciated for who we truly are. Whether you are a happy swinging single, or a depressed left-on-the-shelf-er, you are entitled to feel what you feel.

Real Intimacy

Intimacy is about revealing the self, but the ‘self’ is not revealed on command.

We all have an underlying need for real intimacy, beyond just sex. There is a great need in people to connect intimately with others. When we try too hard or in predictable ways to create intimacy, we generally fail.

Engaging in sex allows a couple to experience great physical intimacy in a very short time. However, after the thrill wears out, they may find themselves stuck in a rut of feeling very close physically, but not much else. While sex may be very pleasurable for a couple, it is better to wait until marriage to experience sex.

Psychologists believe that our drive for sex is not limited to just physical needs. Often, our desires are rooted in the deeper emotional needs for affirmation, closeness, and security. Sex can only really satisfy when all these are met in the context of a loving relationship. If we fail to meet these needs, sex may just end up hurting us more.

So whether you are in the dating stage or already engaged to that ‘special someone’, seize the moment and enjoy the process of discovering who your partner really is. What are his or her needs outside of sex, and how can you help to meet those needs.

Spend quality time doing things together. Discover the strengths in each other and affirm those things. Be honest about the ugly side of your partner, and help him or her to become a better person through your encouragement.

That is real intimacy.

Dictionary:

1. Love is a feeling of warm personal attachment, as for a child or friend.

I Believe:

1. Love is a mutual feeling where both parties are willing to give each other happiness without expecting anything in return.

2. Love is accepting another person for who he or she really is, and seeing the person’s flaws as beautifully imperfect.

Now, this is what I call true love.

Beautiful Imperfections

Falling in love is relatively easy, but staying in love is not. Sometimes we think that the ‘happily ever after’ feeling marks the end of our journey, but as one writer puts it: ‘True love never lives happily ever after, for true love has no ending.’

We applaud couples for showing such commitment and tenacity to their relationships despite their young age. Their relationships are not perfect. They have their fair share of different situations, heartaches, and personality clashes, but they have not thrown in the towel.

There seems to be a growing trend among young couples to break up and move on to someone new when they face conflict or hardship in their relationship. However, finding someone else to fall in love with is not the best idea. It can lead to a long trail of broken hearts and no one wiser for it. If that same attitude is brought into marriage, we can expect the rate of divorce cases to go up.

Instead, choose to brave the storms and work out your issues together, and you might find yourselves learning a lot about each other through the process. No one is perfect. If you are not perfect, chances are that your partner will not be perfect too.

True love does not come by finding the perfect person, but by learning to see an imperfect person perfectly.

Tennis lesson was fun as usual, but I need to work on controlling my strength and learn to relax. I went to bowl and gym before having lunch with my friends at KFC. All the work out seems wasted after eating all the fattening food.

I headed to Republic of Singapore Yacht Club to teach sailing till evening. The weather is really hot these days. Benjamin and I went to Vivo City to shop for clothes after that and I bought a plain t-shirt.

Chinese New Year is quite boring actually. My cousin came over to visit and we talked till lunch time. I stayed at home and watched three movies because I was not feeling well. What a great time to fall sick.

Breakfast with my family in the morning. We went to one coffee shop and two restaurants only to find out that they were all closed. In the end, we decided to eat at a food court.

Since I am feeling better, I met up with my friends for lunch. We went to Manhattan Fish Market at Marina Square and talked till evening before heading home.

Tennis lesson in the morning was great. I learnt how to play with my backhand and double backhand. After that, I went to bowl and gym before having lunch with my family at Aston’s.

OCBC Cycle Singapore volunteer briefing took up most of the afternoon. The briefing venue was at Conrad Centennial Hotel. Being a six star hotel, the place was pretty grand and it was a good experience being there although the briefing was rather dry.

I had my first tennis lesson with my sister. Our coach is good and I am looking forward to the next lesson. After tennis lesson, I went to run and gym before going to bowl with my friends. My bowling is back to square one and I need to improve.

In the afternoon, I headed to City Hall to meet Chester. Most of the shops are closed and we walked around for awhile before heading home for reunion dinner.

Chinese New Year falls on the same day as Valentine’s Day this year. Anyway, Chinese New Year seems to be loosing its significance over the years. It feels like an ordinary holiday than a festive period.

I took leave from work to accompany Chester to go to the Singapore Airshow. Unfortunately, Chester only brought half of my ticket, so we ended up eating at Popeye’s before going to Tampines One to shop. Both of us bought a black long sleeve shirt from Topman. With shopping done, we went to Starbucks for coffee where I had my favourite caramel frappuccino.

In the evening, I went to Bugis Junction to send my lap top for repair. Dinner was at Sakae Sushi with my family.

OCBC Cycle Singapore briefing was boring and it took up my whole morning. In the afternoon, I went for a run before going to the gym. Nothing beats being in the gym with a good atmosphere accompanied by great music. Thereafter, I headed to Tiong Bahru Plaza to have lunch at Burger King before going to church to meet my friends.

Taking a break from work to gym and run is very relaxing. After that, I went to bowl before heading home. Bowling was a little different because the lights were switched off by the national team training there. I had some difficulties adapting to the conditions, but it was definitely a good challenge.

I will be starting work in a new department tomorrow. I hope that the job will be interesting.

Expressway crossing, forest bashing, and long distance trekking was what Daryl and I did the whole morning. We walked a total distance of about 20km. Sounds crazy? Certainly not. At first, I was hesitant to go because it did not sound very safe and neither was it fun. Anyway, I have no regrets. Walking along the expressways with the cars zooming pass you at high speeds sounds dangerous, but the challenge and thrill was there. More to come next time.

I went home to pack my room before going to church for worship at night.

I filed my documents in the morning before going for lunch with my parents. We had traditional charcoal porridge and it was one of the best porridge I have ever eaten. After that, my mother brought me and my sister to shop at Suntec City. To my surprise, my mother bought me a lap top for my birthday present. I really appreciate it. We also went to buy some clothes before going home for dinner.

My sister and I went to meet up with our friends for supper. We managed to catch up with them and talked about a lot of stuff. I really miss the times we had together.

For lunch, I went to Grand Shanghai with my family. The food was very expensive and it was only average in taste for the price we paid. After that, I went to shop with my friends before going home.

Time flies. It feels like I have just celebrated my 21st birthday, and now, someone is celebrating his 22nd.

This year has been a really wonderful year for me. God has been good and gracious all the time. Now that I have graduated from polytechnic, I will be looking forward to National Service. One year and ten months it will be. Nevertheless, I believe that God will see me through all the difficulties that stand in my way.

The day would not be perfect without my family and friends. I just want to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their birthday wishes, presents, and surprises. From the bottom of my heart, I really appreciate whatever you did, whether big or small.

I received more birthday wishes than I could ever imagine.

I took leave from work, but I will be working tomorrow.

I went to gym and run in the morning before heading home. In the evening, I went cable ski-ing with my friends. This is my first time doing it and I can say that it was a bad experience. Of the five times I tried, I fell into the water without even really getting started. Maybe I should it try again next time.

Dinner was great. I had barbequed food at the 360 restaurant. I spent the whole night talking to my friends and catching up with them.

NTU Parent’s Day event in the morning. After that, I headed to IMM to walk around with my father and sister before being dropped off at Republic of Singapore Yacht Club. I had to teach sailing there with my friend. We had students aged 7 and 8 and they were really cute.

Supper was all about fabulous food.

I spent the morning watching a movie before going for lunch with Daryl at Jalan Tua Kong. On the way home, I fetched my cousins to my house before going down to the chalet. The sea breeze was very refreshing when we arrived. We decided to take a walk along the beach and had a drink at the coffee shop nearby after that.

Buffet dinner for everyone in the evening. We ended off the night by drinking champagne as it was my grandparent’s 50th wedding anniversary.

I went to church to have dinner with my friends and we had overnight prayer meeting till the wee hours of the morning. I got home around three plus and was really sleepy, but I only slept for four hours.

Happy New Year to everyone.

First day of the year and I already lack sleep. Nevertheless, I am still out of my bed early as usual. The whole morning was spent at the photo studio taking photos with my relatives. It was a long and tiring process because we were made to stand still for quite some time. At least the photo taking session ended off with a good lunch.

I went shopping with my sister in the evening at Marina Square. Sales are going on everywhere and everything seems so irresistible to buy. I ended up buying one shirt from Zara.

Started running again with Daryl in the morning. This is a good start for the year.

In the afternoon, I went to my cousin’s house warming session. We had Italian food and dim sum for lunch. The house was very nice and had a quiet atmosphere. After that, I followed my father to test drive the car that he might want to buy.

Dinner was the best part of the day. I met up with my cell group members and drove down to Seletar Airport for dinner. On the way there, I took a wrong turn and we got lost. Thank goodness we still managed to make our way there safely. The food there was good and we talked about a lot of stuff. It was a night full of enjoyment and laughter.

Merry Christmas to everyone.

I started off the day by going to church with my family. Thereafter, we headed to grandma’s house for a Christmas party. The food was good and at the end of the party there was a gift exchange. Thanks for all the presents.

Dinner was at Mellissa’s house. My cell group is so honoured to have Fu Wei and Mellissa to cook dinner for all of us. The food was great and pretty unique. We had bread and mushroom soup for the appetiser, pork chop and veggie for the main course, biscuits and cheese for the side dish, and ice cream with strawberries and vitagen for the dessert.

After dinner, we sat on the floor and played Pictionary. It was a game full of laughter and frustration at times. I guess everyone had a wonderful night. Luckily for us, we managed to catch the last train home.

Early in the morning, I met up with my friends to go to the chalet. We did nothing much in the morning other than talking. After lunch, we headed to Turf City to play paintball. However, our hopes of playing paintball were dashed when it started to rain. We waited for the rain to stop but to no avail, so we went back to the chalet to talk before having dinner.

Night time was a blast. We had karaoke session for about two hours and it was fun. Some of my friends got kind of high too. After that, I headed home because I forgotten to bring my toothbrush.

It is finally the time of the year again. Christmas marks the birth of Jesus Christ, who came into this world to be born as a baby in a manger. He came not only to heal the sick, seek the lost, but to bring salvation into this sinful world. Despite all the celebrations going on, we must always remember the true significance of this very special day.

Breakfast with my parents was a great time for bonding. We headed to East Coast Park for a walk shortly after before going home for lunch. In the afternoon, I headed down to Republic of Singapore Yacht Club to teach sailing with Benjamin. I gained some valuable experience since it was my first time teaching at a club.

At night, I attended Christmas Chill, a musical put up by some of my friends. I am glad to see many of my friends maturing and putting off such stunning performances throughout the night.

First day of the race expo was not too good because many of my volunteers did not come for the morning shift. Afternoon shift was much better as my group almost had full attendance.

Things went on well at the race expo despite many heavy responsibilities given to me. For the night shift, all the counter crew leaders went home except for me, leaving me in charge of 40 counters. Nevertheless, the job was still manageable with the help of the other volunteers.

Last day of the race expo was great. I was allowed to leave early despite being a leader because of my duties on the race day. I went home to rest before meeting up with my friends to go to the chalet to have some fun before the race day.

Volunteering for Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon 2009 was not really fun, but it is the experience gained and getting to know new people that made it enjoyable. Being the race day and also the last day of volunteering, my friends and I were deployed to do registration for the massage tent. I have to admit that it was a very boring job.

We reported at the volunteer’s tent at midnight, having come from the chalet which is at Changi. After collecting our volunteer entitlements, we headed to McDonald’s to catch some sleep before reporting for duty. Just before our duty started, we were lucky enough to catch the first runner completing the marathon and we went to cheer him on. After our duty was done, some of us went to eat at Andersen’s Ice Cream before heading home.

Swissotel Vertical Marathon 2009 is as challenging as ever. This year’s competition featured many elites from all around the world, including the defending and world champion for both the men’s and women’s open category.

I was on the top of the city for about half an hour after climbing up 73 storeys. The Singapore Skyline is just spectacular. Take it away. Snap, snap, snap.

Run, run, run. The Nike+ Human Race 10K 2009 took place early this morning. This was definitely not my best run and I need more training.

On a lighter note, afternoon was briefing, briefing, and more briefing. Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon volunteer briefing was held at Republic Polytechnic for the whole afternoon. It was rather inconvenient to get there. Thereafter, we were brought to the Padang to take a look at the place we will be volunteering at before being dismissed.

New Balance Training Run is tomorrow. Another 10km to go. Better than today I hope.

Ironically, I did better in today’s run compared to yesterday's run. 20km in two days is really tiring. Now, my legs are aching so badly that climbing up and going down the staircase is a torture (talk about next month's Swissotel Vertical Marathon 2009). Thank goodness someone invented the lift. Waking up at five in the morning, which is a rather ungodly hour, just to run was not a bad idea after all. I drove down to Daryl’s house to meet him for a short distance run. The morning breeze was refreshing and it certainly made the run much more pleasurable, compared to running under the scorching sun which we normally do.

For breakfast, I had fishball noodles at the famous Jalan Tua Kong stall. Throughout the afternoon, I spent my time watching three movies. Dinner was a little more special than usual. My family had Northern Indian Cuisine at Siglap. Most of the food was spicy, but it was really worth trying. That marks the end of another public holiday where my family can have a great time together.
