Yes, I need discipline. After doing my project, I can end the day without worries and know that there is still some discipline in me. Of course who knows what tomorrow might hold? Anyway, I went down to City Hall to meet up with Chester to do window shopping although I had money to spend. I could neither find the Adidas shoe bag I wanted nor the Quiksilver slippers. In fact, I cannot find anything that interests me. In the end, we ended up walking around Marina Square and Suntec City aimlessly. We finally settled down at McDonald’s eating ice cream because Starbucks was so packed that there was not a single seat left (actually, there was one but some inconsiderate girl put her legs on it). At least the time spent there catching up with Chester was worthwhile and that the ice cream was really good (Chester’s ice cream was way better than mine but more costly).
13 October 2008, Monday
If telling myself that I like everything about school and not complain will help me do better, from now on, I am telling everyone that I love school. “I LOVE SCHOOL AND SCHOOL IS THE BEST.” (not really true for the second part of the sentence). I cannot deny that I love my CCAs though. Bowling, campus crusade, and sailing are the best (this sentence is very true). I’m going to look at school from a different perspective for this new semester and work harder to achieve better grades.
14 October 2008, Tuesday
Bowling was terrible yesterday. We left our embarrassing scores for all you pros to see. Luckily, while some of you were looking, I got my only strike of the day. Enough, I am not giving up just because of one day’s poor performance. Instead, I believe that failure will spur me on to do better in the future because I cannot think of anything that can be worst than failing. It is the bottom-line, and there is only room for improvement. Just you wait and see.
On a high note, the only lesson in the morning is cancelled so school starts at two. I like that. I am going to start studying now as there is no time for procrastinating.
15 October 2008, Wednesday
Tired of listening to boring lectures? No, I am not. I will persevere on for the rest of the semester.
16 October 2008, Thursday
The book I am reading is really helping me a lot. My bowling kind of improved a little but I still have lots of things to learn from it. The lectures have started proper already and some of the lectures are pretty boring and dry. I am going to bear with it no matter what.
17 October 2008, Friday
School’s out as Fridays are meant for doing projects. I met my project group leader for only about ten minutes despite spending about an hour travelling down to school. The meeting was fruitful though and that is all that matters. Sailing training starts tomorrow. I am very excited as I am going to use a boat that I have never sailed before.
18 October 2008, Saturday
Being the first time in training with the sailing team, I found it hard to believe that only three people turned up, including me, and a series of unfortunate events followed thereafter. The training session was made memorable when I embarrassed myself by taking someone’s bag on accident and it was not my fault, I can testify.
Here goes – Since I needed sun block lotion to protect myself from skin cancer, I asked Jeremy to lend me his sun block lotion and he was only helpful enough to tell me to get it from his Adidas bag over at the canteen. Well, seeing that there was this big Adidas bag on the table, it immediately caught my attention and I went over to grab it not knowing that it belonged to the girl standing next to it. Well, that girl was with her group of friends and she was like “Excuse me, this is my bag.” I immediately apologised and ran away being so badly embarrassed, before going over to confront the unhelpful Jeremy. Thanks Jeremy, you certainly “made” my day. Lesson learnt is that I must bring my own sun block lotion and that no doubt Adidas is a very popular brand. I own one Adidas bag myself.
Anyway, I finally get to sail a “Laser” for the first time. The rigging of the boat is rather complicated but I still managed it with some help from the coach. There was hardly any wind so we could not really sail (we were drifting and rocking our boats more than sailing and had to be towed back to shore). In the end, our coach called us to wash our boats and we were dismissed.
After showering, we left the sailing centre hoping that a kind soul would let us hitch a ride to the bus stop about two kilometers down the road. Sadly, there was none. Singaporeans are so unhelpful. Many of the cars just pass by us, looking at us as though we were animals in a safari. Some of the drivers gave us a little hope that we could hitch a ride by slowing down and then speeding off right after they saw us. We gave up the thought of hitching a ride and walked all the way to the bus stop and stopped by the ice cream van to get some ice cream.
While eating our ice cream, there was this nice cab driver who stopped by and said he could wait for us to buy our ice cream and eat on board the cab. Sounds good at first, but it the cab bill was much higher than anyone of us could expect. A trip from East Coast Park to Tampines train station cost only about five dollars, but our cab fee amounted to nine over dollars. The verdict was that we got cheated. After all the unfortunate events, I went to eat KFC with Jeremy before heading home. However, my evening was great. I shall touch on it tomorrow since it deviates so much from all the unfortunate events.
to bring out the very best in me
