August Day 31 Year 2008

24 August 2008, Sunday

Traditional service was more solemn than the contemporary service which I normally go for. The sermon was quite good. It was about missions from the story of Jonah. After which, I drove daddy to the market to get some groceries before going home to revise for my examination tomorrow.

25 August 2008, Monday

Mass Transfer 'A' paper was by far the most difficult paper of all the papers that I took. Every question just does not seem to make sense to me. I tried my best anyway, writing as much theory that I can recall vividly. After the paper, I headed home alone for the third time this semester and the train was pretty empty because it was terminating its service at Aljunied, which is the stop I am alighting at. Finally, I get to enjoy a peaceful ride home alone in a quieter and less crowded train.

26 August 2008, Tuesday

“DNA, DNA, DNA.” That was all I was reading about and trying to understand the definitions, the steps to extract DNA, and the various methods to identify them. Bioanalytics is my favourite module and I really like modules which are biology related, but there is just too many information to remember and understand. Still, I managed to complete a few chapters of my revision and did my tutorials again to better understand the concepts that I have studied.

27 August 2008, Wednesday

Since Bioanalytics is my last paper and it is in the evening, I went to school to continue with my revision. I spent practically the whole day glued to the chair studying and understanding every single thing I could. The paper was of average difficulty and I could not do two questions which really made me feel guilty of not studying that topic. I hope I can get a good grade for this module.

28 August 2008, Thursday

Being the first day of my holidays, I started out by catching a little more sleep and sorting out my songs in my mp3. In the evening, I went to church to do up the sign board for the talent extravaganza with Anne. We stayed in church till about seven before going to NTUC to buy some stuff and finally going home.

29 August 2008, Friday

Greatest day in my bowling life. I finally broke the 200 deadlock and set my personal best of 211 pinfalls. I got six strikes in the game, one double and one turkey. The rest were spares and I had an open frame in the first frame, which was a split that I could not convert. After bowling, Chor Boon and I headed down to the Comex 2008 to buy a hard disk. We walked round and round looking for the best deal. Finally, we made up our minds and bought the "Western Digital Elements 320 GB" hard disk, which cost $141.20 with two years added warranty. Bashed through the crowd after that to make my way home.

30 August 2008, Saturday

Started using my hard disk that I bought yesterday. Transferred my files into it to back them up just in case I lose my data due to some unforeseen circumstances. Going to go out with mummy in the afternoon to buy some stuff and hopefully get a new handphone if the price is good. Tomorrow I will be going to the "Air Force Open House" to visit my daddy there and also find out more about the pilot career that I am interested in.

bowling is the simple pleasure of my sporting life

August Day 24 Year 2008

17 August 2008, Sunday

I went to church in the morning and stayed back after service to study for my Thermodynamics examination. Linus helped me with some of the questions that I had difficultly in and I could understand them better after that. Thanks Linus. I left church at about four plus to continue my revision at home.

18 August 2008, Monday

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MUMMY. Wishing you happiness always and forever.

Early in the morning at about six plus, I went to school to study and consult my lecturer. My lecturer had a meeting in the morning, so I studied while waiting for him. I got most of my queries clarified after consulting him before heading home. I met up with Samantha at Dover train station to go to church to see to the preparations of the talent extravaganza.

19 August 2008, Tuesday

I got up at about six plus again to go to school to consult my lecturer one last time before I sit for my examination. I made quite a few costly careless mistakes which I truly regret. Anyway, I still have three more papers to go and I will concentrate on them rather than to dwell on what cannot be undone.

20 August 2008, Wednesday

Home studied the whole day for my second paper which is Fluid Mechanics 'B'. I went through the tutorials and past year papers to test myself, highlighted the questions and parts I do not understand so that I can consult my lecturer tomorrow.

21 August 2008, Thursday

I met up with Kevin in school to consult our lecturer, having prepared questions that we need help with. When we entered Mr Koh’s office, there were many other students there too, so we had to wait for our turn. After the other students left, Kevin and I clarified our doubts before heading home to revise on the theory parts.

22 August 2008, Friday

Kevin and I met up in the morning to go through the past year papers once again before sitting for the paper. The paper was manageable, although I messed up some of my theory questions and forgotten how to do one of the calculation one which I was one step away from the answer. Two down and two more papers to go.

23 August 2008, Saturday

Daddy sent me to Daryl’s house at six thirty as I was going for a run. Daryl was down with a slight fever so he could not run, but instead, we took a long walk down East Coast Park and went to Subway for breakfast. Breakfast there was rather costly, costing $8.10, but the time spent with Daryl catching up on our lives was priceless. I headed home after breakfast to continue my revision for the remaining two papers.

August Day 17 Year 2008

10 August 2008, Sunday

I went to church and had the food committee meeting for the upcoming talent extravaganza after service. We came up with many ideas, although most of them were not useful as we had a really limited budget of $50.00 and we had to raise $200.00 with that amount of money. Anne who headed the meeting seemed rather stressed with the amount of money we have to make with such little budget. By the law of economics, I think it is fairly impossible.

11 August 2008, Monday

Bioanalytics presentation was badly done by me. I broke out into laughter halfway through the presentation for no particular reason. Probably I just had too many slides to cover causing my downfall. Anyway, I still managed a pass for the presentation. Bowling training in the evening is the last training for this semester. I really miss training and it will resume in three weeks time.

12 August 2008, Tuesday

Believe it or not, I spent my time procrastinating and my first paper is only three days away. Can someone motivate me to start studying?

13 August 2008, Wednesday

Better than yesterday, I finally got myself seated and open my study materials and started studying. Completed half the scope for my first paper, and I am so motivated to get an ‘A’ grade for this paper. I will continue with the other half of the scope tomorrow and on Friday, I will be ready for the examination.

14 August 2008, Thursday

As planned, I completed the entire scope for my first paper which is tomorrow. I spent the rest of the day watching the olympic games and I am about to start revising for my second paper soon.

15 August 2008, Friday

Took my first examination paper and I am very confident that I can get an ‘A’ grade for this one. I spotted a few mistakes in my multiple choice questions while checking through the paper and corrected it accordingly. After the paper, it was a sign of relief for me as I really need to get an ‘A' grade for this paper as it is one of the modules that I can score well in. I went to meet up with Mou Wei after that to bowl just to get a breather before the next four papers start.

16 August 2008, Saturday

Feeling really lazy and tired, I did not meet up with Daryl to run nor exercise a little bit. Started my revision a little and spent awhile watching the olympics. Linus will be teaching me Thermodynamics tomorrow, so at least I can get some work done.

i will make every second count when i am with you

August Day 10 Year 2008

03 August 2008, Sunday

Missing the last night of Festival Of Praise simply makes me jealous of the people who are able to go. Anyway, I went for the past two nights so I should be happy for that. I was at home studying and doing all my reports, while Boon Teck, Jeremy, and Lun Tat were happily praising God.

04 August 2008, Monday

Finally, I am a little closer to satisfaction of my bowling. I managed to keep my open frames down to two instead of my usual four or more. I bowled a score of 170, but I am really hoping I can break the 200 mark soon and keep a high average.

05 August 2008, Tuesday

Pharmaceutical test was not as bad as I expected as I managed most of the long questions quite well. I went home straight after that instead of going for sailing training as I have Poly Fifty Campus Relay tomorrow.

06 August 2008, Wednesday

Poly Fifty Campus Relay was really good although my team started with only nine people out of ten. The team, whom I captained, came in 37 out of 160 teams. This result broke my club’s record of the 49th position, which is set the previous year also by my team. Well done to all my team members for all your hard work.

07 August 2008, Thursday

Despite the muscle cramps from Poly Fifty Campus Relay, I still went for sailing training. Training seemed especially difficult as I am experiencing muscle cramps all over my body. After training, I felt lethargic although training was of the normal routine.

08 August 2008, Friday

I managed to complete my Pharmaceutical Manufacturing group report in the afternoon after much effort. My plan was to bowl with Kai Yuan after lessons, but it was hindered by the event held at the bowling alley. The event will only end at six, so we decided to give it a miss and I went straight home.

09 August 2008, Saturday

Being National Day, I wore a red shirt the whole day to be a patriotic Singaporean. I spent the whole morning driving Dad and Mum around to get the groceries for the barbeque party tomorrow. First, we went to Chinatown market, then to Sheng Shiong, then to NTUC and finally to Shop & Save. In the afternoon till evening, I spent my time watching the olympic games and the two new comedies on Channel 5. “Calefare” was not bad, but I prefer “First Class” as it was more hilarious.

August Day 05 Year 2008

Living Rain – Parachute Band

We Your people come
In desperate need to You we run
Called by Your great name
With humble hearts we seek Your ways

We believe in faith
Your promises will never break
Turn from wicked ways
To live as Christ for all our days

O God high up in heaven
Won't You heal our land

Living rain fall again
Over my life, over my land
Living rain wash my heart again
Open wide heaven skies
Over my street, O Spirit reside
Living rain flood my life again

Come back, back to Your first love
Back to Your first love
Back to the cross
Come back, back to Your first love
Back to Your first love
At the foot of the cross

i am so in love with this song

August Day 03 Year 2008

27 July 2008, Sunday

Chapel Anniversary programme was kind of boring, but the food was not bad, although Liang Fu found a rain tree leaf in his vegetables. The programme ended later than expected which made me feel that it is very long. I went to bowl with Mou Wei in the afternoon at Kallang Leisure Park and I was surprised that the place was crowded even though it is not accessible by train yet. Mou Wei and I tried out some of the new bowling balls as it was the demo day and we get to use the lanes for free. We bowled till five plus before going home to study.

28 July 2008, Monday

I had Fluid Mechanics 'B' lessons from 3.00 pm to 5.00 pm. After lessons, I met up with Samantha at Buona Vista train station to go home as bowling training was cancelled.

29 July 2008, Tuesday

Sailing training was quite tiring as after the 2.4 km run, we went to play captain’s ball till eight plus before we were allowed to go home. I improved my 2.4 km run slightly, and I am determined to further improve my timing and hopefully be able to run below ten minutes by the end of this year.

30 July 2008, Wednesday

Plant Design lesson ended at ten in the morning, so after that I met up with Mou Wei to run one round the school which is about 3.5 km. We ran under twenty minutes, but we were jaded after the run and I was totally covered in my perspiration. I went for lunch with Mou Wei after the run before meeting up with Chor Boon and Kai Yuan to go to Kallang Leisure Park to bowl. We took a taxi down and got there in less than half an hour.

31 July 2008, Thursday

I took my Effective Interpersonal Communication role play test in the afternoon, and I thank God for guiding me through it so smoothly that the lecturer was impressed with my performance. I startled a little during the test and I got a little nervous at times, but I still managed to sail through it. The lecturer said that I got an 'A' grade for the role play, but I am really hoping that my final grade will be a distinction, or at the very least an 'A' so that I can get a high GPA for this semester.

01 August 2008, Friday

After lessons, I went to meet up with Daryl and Ronald. Daryl came over to my place to study and bathe of all things, because he felt wet as usual. He made a mess of my toilet and I had to clean it up. After that, Tse Yun’s friend, Neko, came to my house to fetch us down to the Festival Of Praise. We went down to Kallang Leisure Park first as Neko and Tse Yun had not eaten their dinner. Daryl and I walked around the place looking at sports stuff while Neko and Tse Yun had their dinner.

The Festival Of Praise was very impressive as so many people gathered in one place to worship God. We got really good seats which were facing the stage directly because we went there one hour early to get them. Natalie came with her friend, and Sher May came late but we reserved the seats for them already so we could sit together. After the event, it was already ten thirty. I met Nicole there and managed to get her to take a picture of me and my friends. Thanks Nicole. Everyone headed straight home after that as it was already very late.

02 August 2008, Saturday

Earlier in the morning, I drove down to Daryl’s house to run with him at East Coast Park. When I got there, I realised I had to pay one dollar just to park my car at his house. This is the first time I have to pay for parking at a condominium car park because it is normally free. Anyway, we ran quite fast and we did not stop at all for the whole of four kilometers. After the run, I went for breakfast with Daryl at the famous fish soup stall near my house before he went to church for worship practice.

In the evening, I went for Festival Of Praise again. This time, I went with Boon Teck, Jeredy, Jeremy, Kai Ping, Kia Wei, Lindsay, Neko, and Tse Yun. Tse Yun bought two CDs before the programme began and the songs are really nice. We were seated in the north balcony of the indoor stadium because the place was so packed, even though we went there two hours before the programme started to queue up. By the grace of God, so many people came to worship God and listen to His word. I was really blessed by the message by Reverend Mark Conner and the worship lead by Hillsong and Parachute Band was really uplifting. I hope I will be able to go to Festival Of Praise again next year.
