March Day 31 Year 2007

The wind was so light in the morning that I could not really teach the trainees how to windsurf. However, the wind picked up in the afternoon after we had our lunch, so we set out to sea again. It is the first time I used a racing board for windsurfing. At first, I was very frustrated because I kept capsizing and could not balance on the board properly. After a few tries, I finally managed to get the hang of the board and could windsurf quite some distance with it.

It was a very good experience trying the racing board for the first time. I hope that I may be able to use the racing board again next week, so that I may be able to go at faster speeds in the future. After windsurfing, I went to help out in the sailing class till evening. The trainees learning how to sail was slightly better than last week and I am glad that they know how to sail a little.

At about four, it started to rain and the National Sailing
Centre sounded the siren informing us about the lightning risks involved. We had to go back to the shore after hearing the siren, as it will be very dangerous to stay out in the sea if it rains. I used the power boat to guide the trainees back to shore and went to collect the buoys before going back to the shore.

In the night, I went to my friend’s house to play bridge and watch a soccer match. The match was bad for me, because Arsenal lost to Liverpool for the first time this season. It was very sad to see the team that I support lose, but I have to accept it. Anyway, Arsenal have already beaten Liverpool thrice this season so it is quite fair.
